Watching Debates

Nothing makes me feel more like an adult than watching political debates and enjoying them. I am apparently at a time in my life where the issues directly affect me and my family. Last Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada a Democratic debate took place with Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Jim Webb, Lincoln Chafee and Martin O'Malley.

A lot of topics were covered through the 2 hours event, hosted by the silver fox Anderson Cooper. Things like climate change and environmental issues, legalizing marijuana, post-college debt and the rising costs of education, immigration, planned parenthood, and of course, Clinton's email scandal.

Why is it important for voters to watch these debates? Well I feel that these debates are one of the best ways to educate ourselves on each candidate and where they stand on issues - especially issues that are important to each American citizen. You cannot assume that just because all individuals are from the same party that they stand on the same side of issues. For example, most democrats are for funding alternate energy sources, but Jim Webb is very much pro-coal, pro-nuclear energy and oil energy. I also feel that debates are a great way to watch a candidate in action. See how they react to opposition. Are they cool under pressure?

Elections are important and this upcoming presidential election is mega-important. Do you research and then vote!
